Evaluation
In order to evaluate the SMETE Open Federation effectively, we must create strong collaborations focused around common goals and outcomes. The evaluation program area establishes a structure that will ensure the SMETE Open Federation (and ultimately the National SMETE Digital Library) collects the information necessary to track and monitor its own activities and provides individual members with data they need to evaluate their own activities, but not interfere with individual evaluation efforts.
To accomplish this, we bring together evaluation experts to establish the SMETE Open Federation as a center for evaluation education resources. This center:
- Coordinates planning for an initial set of educational workshops for SMETE Open Federation members defining the critical dimensions of SMETE digital library evaluation.
- Identifies formative evaluation needs of SMETE Open Federation partners.
- Encourages collaboration and consultation among evaluation experts and novices.
- Fosters and disseminates digital library evaluation 'best practices.'
