What additional technical infrastructure (e.g., transcoding services, location awareness) would be required to deliver the learning content and services contained in the knowledge bases to mobile devices?

Although there are some educational resources that are specifically designed for a range of handheld wireless devices, there are orders of magnitude of more courseware designed for larger computer screens. Trascoding services that would allow access to this wider range of resources would be valuable. But there are a number of user interface and design questions associated with the best way to do this.

I would hope that our vision of handheld-based learning would not simply be a miniaturization of the desktop screen, application, or interface. (It reminds me of those travel versions of games like miniature backgammon that gets played at most once.)
