Abstract:
Dr. Alan Kay's deep interests in children and education are the
catalysts and inspiration for the ideas he will present. One of the founders of
the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center, he is recognized for his leadership in
personal computing, the intimate laptop computer, and the invention of the
now ubiquitous overlapping-window interface and modern object-oriented
programming. After Xerox PARC, Kay was Chief Scientist of Atari, a Fellow
of Apple for 12 years, Vice President of Research and Development at the
Walt Disney Company for 5 years, Founder and President of View Points
Research in 2001 and a Senior Fellow at HP Labs in 2002.
