Help: Using the SMETE Digital Library
Welcome to the SMETE Digital Library. The following text provides simple instructions for using the services the digital library offers. Read on to learn about the search tools and community building features offered by the SMETE Digital Library.
Find Learning Resources
FIND: Use this search tool if you're pretty sure you know what you're looking for. It allows you to use both bibliographic and instructional labeling to guide your search for an item. Keyword, Author and Title are just a few of the standard bibliographic fields you can apply; Type of Learning Resource and Grade are other choices that allow you to specify instructional use and education levels. When you've entered your criteria, press SEARCH.
Browse Our Collections
BROWSE: Use this search tool to perform a broad search for learning materials. It allows you to search by Subject Headings. Select the "+" to expand the subject headings, where applicable. Once you've found a subject you're interested in, select it and then press GO.
Get Search Results and Utilize Resources
Your SEARCH RESULTS are sorted and displayed. To view a resource, simply select the title. A SUMMARY of the selected resource is displayed. You can learn more about the authors and contributors of the resource, read any comments or reviews written about it or press DOWNLOAD so that you can begin using the resource.
Create a User Profile and Build a Workspace
Search tools are just the beginning... You'll also find a community within SMETE.ORG. Select WORKSPACE from the top right menu list on the home page, or from the top navigation bar on any interior page to log in as a registered user. If you are a new user, select "Create a Profile" from the SERVICES area of the home page and begin to build your community. You will be asked to complete a short form in order to join SMETE.ORG. After completing the form, select CREATE USER PROFILE and become a registered user. After you have registered, we will begin to recommend resources to you based on your profile and the type of resources you download. Over time, SMETE.ORG will recommend peers who have interests similar to yours, and create a list of the resources they have found helpful.
We hope you visit www.smete.org often. Please let us know how we can
enhance your experience of the SMETE Digital Library - a collection of collections, a community of communities.
